DescriptionThe NRA Home Firearm Safety Course is the basic course recommend to anyone unfamiliar with guns or who needs a to learn gun terminology. The purpose of this course is to introduce the basic principles of firearm safety. It concentrates on gun handling and storage within the home. Guns are neither safe or unsafe by themselves. When people practice responsible ownership and use, firearms are safe. None of us would allow someone to be injured it it could be prevented. Home accidents involving guns generally result from one of two causes: ignorance or carelessness. The fact of the matter is, accidental gun injuries can be prevented by accepting responsibility and taking necessary actions. We are responsible for gun safety. Students will get the NRA's Home Firearm Safety handbook, pamphlets on safety and terminlogy and lessons on the rules of safe gun handling, identifying and unloading various firearms, ammunition, cleaning, and storage. Students will also get hands-on experience with the most common types of handguns, rifles and shotguns. Course Goal“To teach the basic knowledge and skills and to explain the attitude necessary for the safe handling and storage of guns in the home.” Course Length4 hours. Lessons
PrerequisitesThe are no prerequisites for taking this course and the material can be understood by mature people of all ages. Course Cost$50 Pre-registration is required as class size is limited.
